Gartner evaluates 19 vendors in a maturing space that offers important competitive advantage”
When evaluating the vendors, Gartner took into considerations aspects such as company viability, geographic strategy, market responsiveness and track record, deployment capabilities, market understanding, vertical/industry strategy, partner leverage, and company vision.
The systems were assessed on their aptness and flexibility as well as delivery flexibility, completeness (ability to support such areas as merchandising, distributor management, van sales, DSD), RAO (ability to optimize the activities of the field force), user experience, analytical capabilities, and configurability.

““Vendor Panorama for Retail Execution” replaces the MarketScope which covered field sales automation in the consumer goods industry, which was retired in 2011. It is a companion to "Vendor Panorama for Trade Promotion Management in Consumer Goods”.
In the newest report Gartner assessed the current marketplace and the leading SFA vendors. The company expanded the vendor coverage to a total of 19 to cover the bulk of geographies and functionalities on the mature market, responding to the needs of consumer goods companies searching for more localised solutions.
